Corsair Distillery & Taproom at Marathon

A working craft distillery inside the old Marathon Motor Works factory, pairing a 30-minute production tour with a taproom pouring house-made spirits, local beer, and wood-fired pizza. Nashville's original grain-to-glass distillery, still running its 1920s pot still daily.

Corsair started distilling in this stretch of Marathon Village well before the neighborhood became a tourist stop, and the taproom still feels like the working distillery it is rather than a polished attraction built for foot traffic. The tour walks the floor past the pre-Prohibition-era pot still, the condensing columns, fermentation tanks, and mash cooker, with a guide explaining how Corsair's grain-to-glass process turns into its whiskeys, gins, and rye. It runs about 30 minutes and ends the way it should: with a guided tasting of five spirits.

The taproom is the better reason to linger. It pours 16 local beers on draft alongside Corsair's own bourbon and gin cocktails — the Pink Drink and a pineapple daiquiri are recurring favorites — and turns out fresh-baked pizzas that hold their own against the drinks menu. There's a tasting bar and a bottle shop on site for anyone who wants to walk out with what they just tried, plus a gift shop for the merch-inclined.

It suits a slower Marathon Village visit: come for the tour, stay for a pizza and a flight, and treat Antique Archaeology or the Motor Works museum next door as bookends rather than the whole trip. Groups larger than 14 need advance coordination for tours, and Tuesdays are a dead day — the taproom is closed.
