The Catbird Seat

The Gulch·restaurants

Nashville's most celebrated fine-dining experience, now seated at a twenty-person U-shaped counter on the fifth floor of the Bill Voorhees Building in the Gulch. A Michelin-starred, multi-course tasting menu is composed and plated directly in front of you. Reservations release monthly and go in minutes.

The Catbird Seat built its reputation at a sixteen-seat counter on Division Street, and after a 2025 move to the fifth floor of the Bill Voorhees Building — the same building that now also houses The Patterson House — it reopened at a twenty-seat U-shaped counter with the kitchen visible from every position. The format hasn't changed: a single tasting menu served to the whole room at roughly the same pace, cooked and plated by chefs who talk you through what's in front of you.

Expect somewhere around fifteen courses over a few hours, built from seasonal and local ingredients and leaning toward the technique-driven cooking that earned the restaurant its Michelin star. Beverage pairings, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, run alongside the food for an additional cost, and dinner alone runs $195 per person before drinks, tax, and gratuity.

Reservations open on the first of each month at noon for the entire following month and go quickly — this is a plan-ahead restaurant, not a walk-in option, and food allergies need to be flagged when booking since the menu isn't substituted table to table. It's built for a special-occasion dinner, an anniversary, or anyone who wants to watch a genuinely top-tier kitchen work a few feet away, not a casual weeknight meal.
